When Super Bowl weekend comes around, it’s a great time to be a sports fan. For two of NBA’s most popular superstars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant it was a busy and eventful weekend.
On Saturday the two MVPs would square off for the first time this season in a much anticipated matchup between the Thunder and Curry’s Warriors at Oracle Arena in Oakland. The Warriors held on to defeat the Thunder in a 116-108 victory and despite struggling from the 3 point line, the reigning MVP Stephen Curry would put up an impressive stat line with 26 points, 10 assists , 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Even though the Warriors would have a big lead for most of the game, Durant looked unstoppable and lead his Thunder on a huge run in the second half. He finished the game with 40 points and 14 rebounds.
This game lived up to the hype and was a great treat for sports fans everywhere on the eve of Super Bowl 50. The Super Bowl was taking place in Santa Clara, only an hour away from Oracle Arena in San Francisco. The two All-Stars decided to take advantage of how close they were to the big game and attend the spectacle themselves.
Kevin Durant, who is actually a Washington Redskins’ fan, decided to attend the game between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers, but not as just a regular spectator. Durant instead appeared at the event as a credited photographer for The Players’ Tribune. After shooting the lights out against the Warriors, Durant decided to get his hands on a Canon camera and capture his view of Super Bowl 50, some of his photos are actually on the Tribune’s website. With his 6-9 wingspan and most definitely the tallest photographer there, Durant got some pretty good shots of the event that included Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Greg Olsen, Cam Newton, Peyton Manning among others. Maybe Durant should consider being a professional photographer as his next career move once he hangs up his basketball shoes.

For Steph Curry, who is a Charlotte native and a huge Panthers fan, he would try to help the team the best way he could. Wearing his custom-made Panthers jersey with his name and number 30 on the back he would bang on the team’s “Keep Pounding” drum before the game, which is a Carolina Panthers ritual done before every home game. During their home opener earlier in the season, the Panthers invited Curry to take part in the ritual before taking on the Houston Texans.
Curry has been rooting for the Panthers since they were an expansion team in 1995 and has built a real close friendship with their quarterback and NFL’s MVP Cam Newton. After Newton was presented his award on Saturday, Curry sent his friend a message saying “Congratulations on all the success so far but the job isn’t done,” Curry said in a Bleacher Report video. “Enjoy the experience of playing in the Super Bowl. Having played in NBA championships, it’s an unforgettable experience and something that you want to be able to enjoy and embrace. But just be yourself, the same Cam, the same Panthers that got you to that point and get it done.
“Keep pounding. I’m rooting for you.”
Unfortunately it was not enough for Curry’s Panthers as they would fall to the Denver Broncos in a 24-10 defeat. With the Internet sending out memes everywhere of the Panthers loss, Curry would have to accept it and tweeted out a picture of him banging on the “Keeping Pounding” drums with the Michael Jordan crying face on it.
A Look into my soul right now…but it's all good we will be back! pic.twitter.com/fKbDjGx0on

Don’t be surprised if Steph Curry is on a scoring tear to take out his frustration.
