Editorial Guidelines
- How do I become a writer for GarberSports?
Just sign-up and start writing! One of our editors will contact you after you submit your first article and offer some direction and tips on how to make your second article even better than your first. - Who can write articles on GarberSports?
Anyone can write articles, share pictures and videos, or engage in debate by commenting on articles. If you want to write a preview of your favorite team’s starting lineup, a commentary on your club’s manager, or a top 10 list of your best athletes – this is the place for you. Just click ‘Write an Article’ at the top of the page and let the footy knowledge flow. - What qualifies as an article?
GarberSports encourages writers to create high quality content. In order for your post to be published we ask that it meets the GarberSports editorial guidelines:
- GarberSports members should act in a community spirited way. It is unacceptable to behave in an anti-social manner.
- GarberSports reserves the right to delete or remove articles or comments which are deemed offensive, abusive, threatening, obscene, racist, inflammatory, or otherwise breach the terms & conditions.
- By sharing any contribution you agree to grant GarberSports permission to use the material in any way GarberSports deems it fit (including modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) in any media worldwide.
- How do I pick a topic?
We have found that these topics often generate the most reads: transfer news, best ever, worst ever, top 10 lists (these are easily made using our ‘Top X’ template), controversial topics (ex: goal line technology, homophobia/racism in football, etc), manager and tactical analysis, and so on. Having said that, we want you to trust your instinct and write about whatever you think will make a compelling article. In the end it’s totally up to you. - What is considered unacceptable on GarberSports?
We welcome good-natured sporting debate and encourage you to express your opinions, both positive and negative, about the latest sporting issues, but we do have a few rules to make GarberSports a great place to write. Writer Marketing Tips & Guidelines
We will reward top content and articles that really make the mark in terms interesting, timely and high quality content.
- What are “Featured” articles and how do I get my posts “Featured”?
Our editors look through every article daily to select the top posts and feature them on the GarberSports homepage, Facebook, as well as our media partner news sites. Write great posts and your articles will reach an audience of millions. - How can I become ‘Writer of the Month’?
GarberSports tracks how many “reads” your articles get and ranks writers accordingly. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to the top writers for each team in a calendar month as a badge. You can see writer rankings by clicking the “Top Writers” tab on your Team Page. Once you’ve won a gold medal for being a Writer of the Month, you will have entered the GarberSports pantheon of top writers forever. This medal, as well as any badges you’ve won, will be displayed on your Pro Page for all to see and covet. - Who qualifies for the Career Ladder rewards?
Career Ladder rewards are based on the amount of your articles that have been featured, and are designed to be unlocked automatically as soon as the milestones are reached. - What if I already have a blog?
