Shkodran Mustafi’s agent Ali Bulut has refuted allegations that he told German site Spox that his client has agreed terms with Arsenal.
Earlier today, excitement levels rose through the roof when Sky Sports News chief reporter Bryan Swanson tweeted that Mustafi and the Gunners had come to an agreement.
Although he stressed no formal agreement had been reached in terms of a transfer fee between Arsenal and Valencia, fans of the Gunners were certain that the Germany international would soon be partnering Laurent Koscielny in the Premier League.
However, Bulut has been speaking to German football website Kicker today, and has disregarded his apparent comments in Spox, much to the disappointment of Arsenal fans.
‘There are discussions but there’s no agreement between Mustafi and Arsenal, or between both clubs.’
The former Everton trainee was one of Europe’s best players last season and his performances for both club and country have attracted attention from the world’s best.
After impressing for Sampdoria following his departure from Everton, Mustafi joined Valencia in the summer of 2014 following the World Cup in Brazil.
Since then, the centre-back has been one of the team’s biggest leaders and has been largely comfortable against quality offensive opposition, of which he has faced many in La Liga.
Featuring in a team with a particularly soft spine, Mustafi’s above statistics prove that he truly is the commander he is described as, and would be a fantastic addition to Arsenal.
However, it seems that Gooners have a way to go yet until they have their man.
