Brett’s Bets Of The Week: European Euphoria/Hangover

What the actual $#&*, this week has been tough on the ole penny pinching with me almost resorting to actually ‘pinching’ to make ends meet!

It all started and ended with the boxing on the weekend. GGG didn’t just do Kel Brook over, he did me in too. From ‘Brook to Broke’ in a few pitiful rounds. Kel Brook’s team waving the towel in surrender; me waving goodbye to my 200 notes. Down and out and I couldn’t even afford to get ‘punch drunk’ to drown my sorrows. The rest of the week petered out like a diesel running on hydro-power – till the weekend, this weekend of course.

Now there are various opinions about the introduction of Friday night football and I for one am all for it. It allows me to start my hedonistic weekend that little bit earlier, hear hear I say, unless I lose; in that case Fridays can do one. Saturday is the business! Unless I lose again. But thank God (non practising atheist) for Sunday.

Right then, let’s get down to the tipping business and get you ‘orrible lot, and myself of course some winning odds on the weekend proceedings.

 

Hull City V Arsenal

Lacklustre and lucky against PSG. Arsene should have thanked both Ospina and Cavani in equal measure for the vital point.

Arsenal setup as underdogs for that game but they will be surely head into this one as top dogs. Unleashing their snarling hounds on the limp resources of Hull.

Looking to make it three wins on the spin in the league – Arsenal will attack, attack, attack. Giroud will likely get the call from the bench to start this one. He still needs 10 chances to score one goal but with Ozil and the opponents I can see him getting double that.

Leicester V Burnley

Evidently, Leicester doesn’t ‘brugge’ easily and have bounced back from their indifferent start to the league season with an absolute clubbing of Club Brugge in the Champions League.

This could be just the lift that the champions needed. A rousing crowd and a renewed belief should see them sweep aside brave Burnley all too easily.

 

Leicester Win– 4/7 – Wiliam Hill

 

Tottenham V Sunderland

This week, according to Patrick Van Aanholt, the Sunderland team realized they have trouble understanding each other in defence – their broken English leading to a broken defence.

Tottenham on the other hand, are fluent in attacking with their actions speaking much louder than their promising words.

Fresh from a defeat in the Champions League, there’s no better pick-me-up than a resounding win. They’ll have way too much for Sunderland but I do half expect Defoe to get off the mark against his previous employers.

Man City V Bournemouth

Derailing Man Utd on Saturday, demolishing Borussia Moenchengladbach on Wednesday…the Pep train is picking up speed almost as fast as it is admirers. With no stone left unturned it’s picked up and hurled through the oppositions window with the players plundering the goods (goals) at will. With 11 goals in just four premier league games – Man City are writing their own story and with that, I’m writing off Bournemouth’s chances. With classy (glassy) Jack Wilshere the only player capable of upsetting any odds, he may not last two halves and I fancy Man City to score in both.
