There may have only been seven fights on WSOF 27 in Memphis, Tennessee on Saturday night, but they were packed full of action as four bouts did not make it to the judges’ scorecards.

One of the fights that did make it to the scorecards was the main event between Luiz ‘Buscape’ Firmino (18-6) and former UFC, Strikeforce and ONE Championship fighter Caros Fodor (10-5).

A veteran of the now-defunct Pride, Buscape used his grappling to overwhelm Fodor in the first two rounds, which was enough for the Brazilian to get the 29-28 decision from the judges. The victory was Buscape’s third in the WSOF cage and puts him firmly in line to fight Justin Gaethje for the Lightweight title.

It took just two minutes and 32 seconds for Shamil Gamzatov (10-0) to keep his undefeated record intact as he finished Teddy Holder (9-3) in the WSOF 27 co-main event. Both fighters came out immediately looking to strike, but it was the Russian who landed the better shots from the outset.

An overhand right by Gamzatov visibly hurt the eye of Holder, and the Russian immediately pounced by flooring him with another huge punch before referee Herb Dean stepped in to stop the fight. While the fight was Gamzatov’s first in WSOF, the dominant nature of  his win and perfect record will likely put him in the WSOF Light Heavyweight title picture.

Bryce Mitchell (5-0) also kept his undefeated record intact after he submitted Jorge Medina (4-3) after just 1:02 of the first round, while Jaleel Willis (6-0) also kept a perfect MMA record after winning a unanimous decision against Chuancey Foxworth (1-1).
