2015 GarberSports Male Athlete of The Year Awards

With the 2015 year now in the history books, we are thrilled to present the 2015 GarberSports Male Athlete of the Year Awards, recognizing the best performers over the past 12 months.
2015 saw many teams, players, and coaches give outstanding performances in their various sports across the world, and we at GarberSports took it upon ourselves to pick out the top performer. With the help of you, the fans and voters, Garbersports team without further ado name the winner as Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

When shooting 3-pointers becomes a preferred natural weapon of selection during a game of hoops rather than sporadically relied upon skill, then it comes as no surprise you ought to be recognized for it. Steph Curry lit up the NBA, and sports world alike in 2015 with some mind-boggling off the dribble shots he made during the Golden States Warriors’ run to the NBA Championship, a title that has evaded the Bay Area for 40 years.

It was a tremendous year for a player out of Davidson University once considered by analysts “to not be quite good enough to play in the Association”. Much similar to the GarberSports Award, Stephen Curry was also named The Associated Press 2015 Male Athlete of the Year. The reigning MVP finished first in voting by U.S. editors and news directors, joining LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird as the only basketball players to win the honor in the 85 years of the award.

Curry beat out golfer Jordan Spieth, who won two majors, Jonathan Toews of the Chicago BlackHawks, Tom Brady and Cam Newton to win the inaugural GarberSports Award. Continuing from an MVP year to so far this season lead the Warriors to an incredible start; currently sitting with a 36-3 record.

Based on the video below it is apparent how surprised he was to be the winner of the AP Award.
