Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is feeling the pressure to succeed with the Blues this season, now more than before after the Capital One Cup defeat to Stoke City that saw his side knocked out of the competition prematurely.
In a tense press conference on Friday where the Chelsea boss reluctantly gave answers to questions thrown at him, he confessed that he cannot promise a top-four finish at the end of the present season.
“I cannot promise it,” Mourinho replied reporters after asked if he guarantees Champions League football for Chelsea next season.
Most of the questions asked onward met one-word answers by the Portuguese, but a question on dismissed club doctor Eva Carneiro was intercepted by a Chelsea spokesman.
When asked if he has been in contact with club owner Roman Abramovich, Mourinho replied: “I don’t have to tell you.”
Chelsea are currently placed 15th on the Premier League table with 11 points from 10 games and they host Liverpool in an early kick-off on Saturday afternoon.
