Lionel Messi has released a message of thanks for support in his latest injury, as the Barcelona man identifies ‘recovering well’ as his priority.
The Argentine is beginning a six-to-eight-week process to come back from an injury suffered at the weekend in Barcelona’s league win against Las Palmas.
“As many of you know, over the next few weeks I will be completely involved in recovering from this latest injury,” Messi said.
“For me it is a shame not to be playing with my team right now…
“Now the most important thing is to recover well to help my teammates and return all the love of my people in the best way I know how playing football.
“Thank you for your messages of support!”
Messi was the biggest absence for Barcelona in their Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen, however, he was present at the stadium for the game.
Messi arrived at Camp Nou on crutches, with his left leg immobilised, receiving constant shouts of support from those who were lucky enough to arrive at the stadium at the same time as the No 10.
Accompanied by Pepe Costa, player liason officer, the player headed down to the dressing rooms, where he watched the game via television, according to TV3.
Messi was injured against UD Las Palmas last Saturday and should return in 6-8 weeks depending on the recovery.
