Spain, France Advance to EuroBasket Semifinals

Spain and France, two European basketball powers, have advanced to the semifinals of EuroBasket 2015 thanks to victories on Tuesday.

In the first game of the day, Spain narrowly defeated Greece in a hard-fought contest, 73-71. Spain got monster performances from their two Chicago Bulls participants, Nikola Mirotic and Pau Gasol.

Gasol has been huge all tournament, and he put up 27 points and nine rebounds while shooting 10-of-18 from the field in the victory over Greece. Mirotic added 18 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo had 12 points and 17 rebounds, and the Greek Freak also had one massive block of Gasol:

In the second game, France handled Latvia by a final score of 84-70. Tony Parker led the way with 18 points and six assists, while Rudy Gobert added 13 points and six rebounds.

Spain and France will play each other on Thursday for a spot in the championship game and a bid to the 2016 Olympics. The other two quarterfinal games will take place on Wednesday, with the first tilt between Serbia and the Czech Republic, and the second between Italy and Lithuania.
