Man Utd: David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid off as paperwork late

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could be set to spend the next year at the club despite Real Madrid agreeing a fee with United for the transfer.

A fee of 29 million euros plus Keylor Navas had been agreed with United, as they bowed to pressure and discussed a deal that would see De Gea finally get his move to Real, as had been rumoured all summer.

However, it is being reported that the paperwork for the deal was not completed in time, meaning David de Gea will have to stay at United for another year if that is the case.

It remains to be seen if Real can appeal, and if Navas’s transfer to United have gone through. It may be that Real have managed to lose both of their potential first-team ‘keepers.

In all likelihood, let’s be reasonable – Real will get what they want.

Update: We still think it’ll happen, but of the various excuses being offered by Real Madrid for the failure to complete the transfer, this one is absolutely our favourite:
