Usain Bolt on Saturday won his third gold medal at the ongoing IAAF World Championships as he powered the Jamaican 4×100 metres men to first spot in grand style.

Bolt before now had snatched the gold in the 100m and 200m events and  the world’s fastest man ran the anchor leg as the Jamaicans took gold in 37.36 seconds at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

With the victory on Saturday, Jamaica has now won the men’s relay event for four times consecutively while Bolt has increased his total gold medal haul at the world championships to eleven.

The United States team featuring Justin Gatlin, who won silver behind Bolt in both individual sprints, botched their final handover but crossed the line second in 37.77 with the bronze going to hosts China in 38.01.

The Americans were subsequently disqualified.

Meanwhile double Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce anchored the Jamaica women to their second successive world title in the females 4×100 metres on Saturday.

Fraser-Pryce, who won the 100 metres individual title in Beijing helped Jamaica clock a championship best 41.07 seconds while the Americans took silver in 41.68.
