Consensus Mock Draft: Porzingis, Hezonja climbing

Consensus Mock Draft: Porzingis, Hezonja climbing

The Consensus Mock Draft is a compilation of the best mock drafts around the web. We bring them together to come up with a good estimate of how the 2015 NBA Draft could play out.

A few things of note in the first look at the mock drafts:

– Since our initial look immediately after the lottery, we’ve seen some serious movement. Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns has solidified his status as consensus No. 1 pick, with Jahlil Okafor as the likely No. 2 pick.

– One player making a serious push up the various mock drafts is Kristaps Porzingis. He’s now projecting as high as No. 3 and no lower than No. 5. For more on Porzingis, check out Scott Howard-Cooper’s recent feature chronicling the Latvian’s preparations for the NBA — on and off the court.

– Another foreigner climbing is Mario Hezonja. The 6-foot-8 swingman out of Croatia who plays for Barcelona in Spain, had been all over the board previously, but now appears to be landing in the No. 5-7 range.

– In our first look, the prognosticators had Murray State point guard Cameron Payne penciled in at No. 14 to the Thunder. While three mocks still have him going at that spot, five mocks now see him going at No. 11 to the Pacers, whoseem to be high on the 20-year-old.

– The various writers seem to be getting mixed signals on Kentucky’s Willie-Cauley-Stein. He appears as high as No. 4 (USA Today) and as low as No. 12 (ESPN/Ford).

– Eight players appear in the lottery on all 12 mock drafts: Towns, Okafor, Russell, Emmanuel Mudiay, Porzingis, Hezonja, Justise Winslow, andStanley Johnson.
